Fujiwara no Ietada (藤原家忠)

FUJIWARA no Ietada (1062 - June 22, 1136) was a court noble who lived in the late Heian period. He was the progenitor of the Kazanin family, and also called Kazanin Sadaijin (minister of the left). His father was FUJIWARA no Morozane. His mother was a daughter of MINAMOTO no Yorikuni. He had children including FUJIWARA no Tadamune.

After the sudden death of FUJIWARA no Moromichi, his brother from a different mother, he attempted to secure the position of regent, but in vain.

The Emperor Horikawa trusted Ietada very much. It is recorded in "Chuyuki" (diary written by FUJIWARA no Munetada) and "Imakagami" (The Mirror of the Present) that the Emperor strongly intended to make Ietada assume the post of Ukone no daisho (Major Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards).

Recently, it is said that the enlarged part of "Imakagami" was written by Ietada.
